Furore-MarMeeting 2007

Sunday 8th July

This discipline includes dives of 23 to 28 mt. for men and from 18 to 23 mt. for women.
Where possible the dives are executed directly from the rock face,otherwise from a small platform erected on the fiordo of Furore bridge at a heigh of 28 mts.
After the initial jump the divers have about 3 seconds to coordinate their movements before entering the water at a speed of 100km/h.
An high diver has to be
- already skilful in diving or in another acrobatic sport;
- determined and brave;
- in possession of good self-control.
Possible risks
The greatest risk, comes at the moment the body makes contact with the water, the athlete's bodies are the maximum of muscle contraction and receive high impact pressure to their ligaments.
Execution rules
Each athlete has three dives, the first is a controlled dive, the second and the third are free-style with a level of difficulty conforms to the PHDA(Professional High Diving Association). The jury is a made up of five international judges each giving his vote after the dive on the basis of its execution ( 0-10).
The best and the worst vote are excluded. The remaining points sum are multiplied by the difficult coefficient. The winner is the diver with the highest points obtained from the sum of three dives.
The dives execution order is decided by a draw effected by the jury president the day before the competition. The athletes execute the third dive in the result order from the lost to the first.
