Gastronomy in Capri

The World famous Island of Capri, with its fine culinary experiences "captures" even the most demanding visitor.

The attentive selection of local products, also from Sorrento mainland peninsula nearby (such as: lemons and IGP labeled olive oil), imposes you to taste the delicate Capri style ravioli, the stuffed squid in cherry tomato sauce and the famous Caprese salad (a fresh mix of sliced mozzarella cheese and tomatoes, dressed with olive oil, oregano and basil leaves), an informal dish that has conquered the whole World.

Typical of the local cooking is the combination between local fish and vegetables: between linguine (flat spaghetti) with Grouper sauce and the vermicelli with Sea Urchin sauce, you can find noodle soup specialties such as chickpea and Cuttle fish; vegetables and seafood or "cicerchie" (a typical local legume similar to the chickpea) .

The main courses feature specialties with chicken, rabbit and quail meats.

As dessert ? A slice of Caprese style almond black chocolate cake and a small glass of iced limoncello.

Worth of mention: the wines of Capri, which were already appreciated at the times of the Roman Emperor Tiberius. The Capri DOC, produced in the local vineyards, offers a selection of wines: Greco, Falanghina and Biancolella are the famous white ones, whilst Piedirosso is an important red one.
